About my work.
I rarely work directly on observation but I am an avid viewer and that what I see can show up in my work at any time.
What intrigues me the most is the fact that once the tip of my pencil or brush touches the surface of paper or canvas gradually something starts to happen.
Think of it as a visible way of thinking about anything and everything. It can be about objects, animals, people, sometimes with references to mythological stories. It can also be about plants on the level of cells, and crystals, anything is worth thinking about. The end result is always a surprise for myself and that is how it has to be.
A lot of my recent works are, what I choose to call, DIGIGRAFIEKEN. They are to be characterized as digital collages in witch I use parts of my paintings, drawings, etches and linocuts to create a whole new world .
My work has a surrealistic character. I like to create images in witch there is al lot to bee seen, in terms of scenes, colours and shapes. The result should be able to put imagination at work. You can look at it as a visible way of thinking about anything and everything.
